Zanzibar Palace Hotel is a unique small boutique hotel, located right in the heart of Stone Town.

If you look for a place where to really appreciate the Zanzibar culture in a truly charming environment, this is definitely where to stay. Everything resonates with the rich Zanzibar history which is a mix of African, Arabian, Persian, Indian, English and even Portuguese.

The hotel is situated in an old building from the beginning of the last century. Fully restored in a way to maintain the authentic Zanzibar atmosphere, with all furniture and decorations being original from the island. At the same time, while keeping the old building’s charisma, it offers all modern comforts, like, to name a few, hi-speed Wi-Fi, AC and ceiling fan, high-pressure (hot) water, silk bathrobes and more.

The building develops on four floors: on the ground floor, there are the restaurant and the bar, where you can enjoy your meals and drinks at the soothing sound of our beautiful fountain in a very relaxing environment.

The upper floors have three rooms each: a total of nine rooms, all different from each other, all with their specific character and appeal, which is why they don’t have numbers, but names based on the décor or their history.

Room Nadia, for example, gets its name from the local tradition of calling the first female born in a family Nadia, and this was the first room to be ready; Romantic Suite Farizah (which means arch) has a beautiful wooden arch; Signature Suite Arabica is all decorated in Arabic style, and our Honeymoon suite, Dunia (which means world), is truly a world apart with its own private terrace on the top floor overlooking Stone Town.

We have Luxury rooms, Romantic Suites perfect for couples, Grand Suites great for friends and families, a Signature Suite, a Palace Suite and a Honeymoon suite: six different possibilities to meet the needs of each of our guests.

Our team is friendly and professional and each one of them will go the extra mile to ensure that you have a wonderful time.

Stone Town

Stone Town, recognized as a World Heritage Site by Unesco back in 2000, is definitely worth a few days of exploration with its winding alleys, bustling bazaars, grand Arab houses and of course its famous beautiful doors.

Stone Town makes the island of Zanzibar unique, with its incomparable mix of cultures and people. And it’s very lively with a lot of restaurants offering menus from all over the world, and local and international music.

What our guests say about us.

“No better room to come back to at the end of a busy day. A very authentic and charming hotel, quiet and just off the seafront, with beautifully decorated rooms, lovely staff, super breakfast. For those who want the Zanzibar style without the hype.”

“I just came back from a solo trip in Zanzibar in which I spent the first 2 and the last 2 days in Stone Town. I could not have chosen a better place, I got the chance to see 2 different rooms, all furnished in typical Zanzibari style and each of them cuddled me in a magical atmosphere. From the hotel you can really walk all over the old part of the city, it’s close to the sea and absolutely within walking distance from everything worth visiting. Rooms are perfectly equipped, super clean and there is such care in details not so common to be found nowadays. The staff are so welcoming and extremely helpful in each situation, trips and excursions are very well organised and everybody is always on time. I would advise this place without any doubt to anyone, from families to couples or solo travellers as well. Unforgettable experience”

“If I come to Zanzibar again, I will definitely be staying at this special hotel, with a fabulous location and which provides service beyond expectation. Delicious breakfast and very friendly staff. Definitely, a hotel you should experience if you are in Zanzibar”

“My partner and I visited on a quick planned holiday, not easy during these Covid times. After a few bad experiences and setbacks with sub-par hotels, cancelled flights etc. … We were so relieved to arrive at Zanzibar Palace Hotel.

The rooms, service and overall atmosphere there were just amazing. Daniela was friendly, courteous … just an all-round amazing human being. The local hotel staff were always smiling, no matter the time of day or stress, ready to assist and help you.”

“I think the overall impression we got was that they genuinely care about your time there, unlike other hotels or places just run ‘by the numbers’. They actually care, and that is so rare these days.

Definitely visit Zanzibar Palace Hotel in Stonetown, and you won’t be disappointed.”
