Swiss-based airline group Lufthansa’s subsidiary, Swiss, has unveiled plans to extend its flight services to Washington DC and Toronto in the coming year, in addition to broadening its reach within Europe.
Earlier, Swiss disclosed it would be amplifying its U.S. long-haul operations, with additional flights to cities like Miami, San Francisco, New York, Boston, Chicago, and Montreal in Canada.
Tamur Goudarzi Pour, Swiss’ top commercial executive, expressed excitement over the expansion, stating, “We’re thrilled to enhance our network for both short and long-haul flights starting next summer.”
For travelers between Zurich and Washington DC, Swiss is planning a daily flight throughout the year. The inaugural flight is set to take off on March 28, 2024, though the initial timing might differ slightly due to adherence to the winter timetable for 2023/24. Flights will leave Zurich at 1:00 PM and touch down in Washington DC at 4:20 PM. The return flight is scheduled to depart Washington at 8:45 PM and land in Zurich at 10:50 AM the next day.
Starting May 10 of next year, Swiss will also connect Zurich to Toronto with flights scheduled for five days a week—Tuesday through Sunday. These flights will take off from Zurich at 9:55 AM and reach Toronto at 1:00 PM. The return leg will leave Toronto at 4:35 PM and arrive in Zurich at 6:30 AM the subsequent morning.
In addition to transatlantic routes, Swiss aims to bolster its European network by adding direct flights to Košice in Slovakia and Cluj-Napoca in Romania. These flights to Slovakia’s and Romania’s second-largest cities will operate three times weekly.
Tickets for these new destinations have become available for booking starting today.
In a related announcement last week, Swiss declared that only eco-friendly ‘Green Fares’ would be offered for flights between Zurich and Geneva.
