New Gateway to Africa: Kinshasa Now Connected through Qatar Airways
Qatar Airways has expanded its African network with a new route linking Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to major destinations in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The inaugural flight from Doha touched down at Kinshasa’s N’djili International Airport on June 1st, 2024, marking the 29th African destination served by the airline.
This strategic move enhances air travel options across Africa, fostering stronger economic, business, and cultural ties between the DRC and other regions. Qatar Airways emphasises its commitment to Africa’s growth by offering seamless travel through their award-winning Doha hub, Hamad International Airport, recognised as the “World’s Best Airport” in 2024 by Skytrax.
Increased Connectivity and Investment Opportunities in Kinshasa
The new Kinshasa route offers four weekly flights, significantly increasing capacity to Luanda, Angola, which will now see four flights a week instead of one. This expansion complements Qatar Airways’ existing network of over 170 weekly flights across Africa. Since December 2020, the airline has added nine new African destinations, including Kinshasa, demonstrating their dedication to connecting the continent.
Furthermore, Qatar Airways has optimised flight schedules in many African markets, including Kinshasa and Luanda, to provide convenient connections to key destinations in China, Belgium, France, Portugal, and the Middle East.
Kinshasa, the bustling capital of the DRC and Africa’s third-largest city, boasts various investment and tourism opportunities. Its vibrant music scene, cultural diversity, and stunning natural landscapes along the Congo River make it a magnet for both urban explorers and nature lovers.
