In a move that makes it one of the first cruises to make a trip back to Antarctica, “Scenic Eclipse” will be resuming its ultra-luxury voyages on January 7th, 2022. After almost two years with no expeditions, Scenic is keen on taking its cruise visitors on a 13-day “Antarctica in Depth” journey to see the sprawling, virgin landscapes of Antarctica and its exceptional wildlife.

According to Rob Voss, the COO of Scenic Group, who shed more light on the development, “Our crew and staff are so delighted to be able to welcome guests back on board our world-class yacht, Scenic Eclipse. Besides the opportunity to be one of the first cruise lines to return to Antarctica after nearly two years of no visitors, we are also excited to showcase several enhancements on board Scenic Eclipse – a number of which were driven by our guests’ feedback.”

The voyage, which will take off from Ushuaia in Argentina, will see guests spending six whole days taking in the beauty of the Antarctic Peninsula. And because the Scenic Eclipse allows only 200 guests on board, it is possible to have multiple shore visits every day.

Jason Flesher, Scenic Discovery Yachts’ Expedition Operations Manager opined: “This 2022 season will be like no other, with only a few expedition lines operating. Antarctica will have had no tourists for nearly two years, so we are expecting unbelievable encounters and experiences with the wildlife. Our expert Discovery Team members’ passion for this part of the world will help bring this unique region to life for our guests.”

Depending on the weather conditions, guests will be treated to exciting highlights including a trip around the breathtaking seven-mile-long Lemaire Channel with cliffs bordering the iceberg-filled passage, a climb to the edge of a volcanic crater, sightseeing an abandoned whaling station, a chance to cross the Antarctic Circle on latitude 66°33’ South, and the opportunity to visit a functional scientific base where guests can discuss with the staff of the base about how they live under extreme conditions.

Daily excursions consist of but are not limited to, a wide range of activities including a cruise amongst the ice formations in Zodiacs, sailing in kayaks or paddle boards surrounded by icebergs while whales feed underneath, going ashore to see and take photographs of the enormous penguin rookeries and seals, hiking along virgin paths with geologists and marine biologists.

For a once-in-a-lifetime experience, guests can go aboard “Scenic Neptune”, the yacht’s custom-made six-guest submarine, which promises exciting trips deep beneath the ocean surface and a 280-degree view of nature and gorgeous marine life in their natural habitat. Alternatively, guests could opt for soaring above the horizon in an ultramodern, six-guest helicopter that offers never-seen-before views and seascapes.

As part of celebrations to mark its return to Antarctica, the Scenic Group is offering bargains such as 2-for-1 business class flights and a 20% discount on select Antarctica sailings in 2022 provided full payment is made on bookings within 12 months or 48 hours (where a booking is made under 12 months before departure).

In addition, Scenic also offers a mouthwatering deal where guests can book three suites and get an additional suite free of cost, provided you book on sailings to Antarctica & South America for Jan-Mar 2022.

Scenic offers a Flexible Booking Policy through which guests can defer their plans to travel or take advantage of a 60-day cancellation policy which allows guests to cancel up to 60 days before departure without paying any additional booking fees, however, third party charges may apply.
