In the heart of Athens, among hip cafes, gourmet restaurants, traditional tailoring ateliers and spice shops, there is a special hospitality place, made by people who love to travel and adore to host special guests from all around the world! Definitely not reminiscent of a “sterilised” and lifeless hotel room… but more of a cosy and welcoming pied-à-terre that one would love to have in the centre of Athens all year long!
Its suites, generous in square metres, will remind you of an urban apartment with its own living room and fireplace, the works of art in each of its spaces will surely make you stand out your favourite and ask more about it and the unobstructed view of the Acropolis from the Roof Garden will justify your choice and convince you that it is the best place to enjoy a glass of wine as you watch the Greek sunset after a day full of walks and sightseeing!
Welcome to The Pinnacle Athens, a hospitality project with a unique character just like their unique guests!
During the owners’ many trips and their several conversations about what they love and what they would do differently in each of the hotels they have stayed in, the idea was born to make a special place of accommodation away from the “copy-paste” hotel rooms.
From that simple idea and with hours and hours of designing and budgeting, The Pinnacle Athens was born! Their vision was to create a space like no other! An amalgam of old Athens and the vibrant city centre of today! Urban eclecticism reinvented! In this new Project they gave emphasis on Comfort and Uniqueness since, when we travel, either for leisure or for business, we need to be comfortable and at the same time live in a space with character! To feel like home away from home!
So when the owners decided to create this new complex of Suites in the Heart of Athens, they were definitely looking for an iconic building to house this unique hospitality venue!
Designed in the 70s by the prominent architect Varagis in the style of Athenian Modernism, the building is the tallest at the Commercial Triangle, with a unique façade covered with more than 3500 metallic tiles, resembling a mini New York style skyscraper.
It operated as one of the first shopping malls in Athens under the brand name “Mauros”, a true landmark in the neighbourhood mainly due to its height and architecture and harmoniously coexisted with traditional and neoclassical buildings of the Triangle. Abandoned due to the economic crisis and at the end left idle, closed and unwanted for more than 10 years.
An ambitious project that lasted 8 months, came to breathe new life into this historic building, preserving its architecture but at the same time creating something fresh. It is characteristic that in the whole building there were no windows, so after the relevant permission of the Architectural Committee, large windows from the floor to the ceiling were opened vertically so that the visitor could enjoy the urban landscape!
This complete renovation project in 2019 resulted in a “classic-with-a-twist” complex of Spacious Suites in the style of Urban Eclecticism. The name of this fresh project, “The Pinnacle” –which means the most successful point; the culmination- was chosen to signify not only that The Pinnacle Athens is located at the tallest building in the Commercial Triangle of Athens but also that Athens is Reborn as a “destination at its best”!
Among the “ingredients” that make this recipe work are the following:
*Customisation
As each of their guests is unique, through special procedures from the first moment of booking until the arrival of the guest at the accommodation, the traveller has the opportunity to personalise his/her stay! Flowers in the Suite, special occasions & events, business meetings, personal driver, customised tours, welcome baskets, in-room spa treatment and many other services, are offered and adapted to the time and budget of each guest in order to plan with us every detail of his/her stay!
*Details
Bespoke furniture, gold and silver details, soft colours, velvet curtains, wooden floors and vintage wallpapers compose a scenery of comfort and urban luxury. English teapots, porcelain plates, toile de jouy fabrics, old keys and hats along with many paintings and gravures, were chosen one by one by antique shops and bazaars to give a familiar and welcoming character in every Suite.
*Luxury meets autonomy
Although the guest is in a “hotel environment”, with the organisation, the services and the staff that it includes, at the same time each Suite is designed and equipped as a complete apartment, allowing anyone who desires so to enjoy his/her autonomy!
*An ongoing project
Since eclectic design is never enough, The Pinnacle Athens is an on-going project!
As a part of the Team’s daily ritual, fresh flowers, new paintings, cooperation with greek artists and fashion designers, treasure hunting in bazaars, are all combined to refresh their Suites and public areas so the guests are never bored but on the contrary discover something new every time they choose to visit The Pinnacle!
It is interesting to mention that during the 100% Hotel Show –a top Exhibition for Hoteliers organised every year in Greece – The Pinnacle Athens was presented in the Workshop “Greek Hotel Design Reborn – The Athenian Example” as one of the three cases of Athenian accommodation that stand out for its design!
After a relevant evaluation and by meeting all the necessary criteria, The Pinnacle Athens joined the dynamics of HIP hotels, an iconic collection of unconventional stays around the globe that encourages guests to escape the ordinary!
As a new member of this beautiful family the Team gave themselves the promise to never stop generating new ideas and keep The Pinnacle Athens fresh and unique even for the guests who honour them by visiting again and again!
As both the building and the interior of The Pinnacle have stood out for their unique architecture and aesthetics, various esteemed events have included the Pinnacle in their program of visits and tours, so that non-residents have the opportunity to learn the history of the building, as well as to be guided to their premises!
Among these organisations, the one that truly stands out is Atenistas with the OPEN WALK ATHENS where they invite and guide the Athenians and foreign visitors to buildings of significant history and architecture and OPEN HOUSE ATHENS a member of the wider family of Open House Worldwide whose team by organising annual events aims to promote architecture and secure access to everyone to worth seeing buildings and interiors in Athens and Thessaloniki!
The Pinnacle Athens, was honoured to be included in the last Open House 2022 event during which visitors were to explore some of the Suites and Public Areas while at the same time were extensively informed about the historicity of the building!
Apart from the wonderful reviews by their guests, The Pinnacle Athens was graced with several Awards by Greek and International organisations. To name few “Urban Stay 2020” , “Best Suite 2020” and “Concept of the Year 2020” by the Greek Hotels of the Year Awards, “Boutique Hotel of the Year 2021”, “Best City Hotel 2021” and “Unique Design 2021” by the Tourism Awards 2021 and “Best Luxury Boutique Suites in Greece 2021” by the International Travel Awards!
But, as The Pinnacle Team reassures us, their most precious award is their guests smile and expression of satisfaction and it is that award they strive to win again and again.
By offering a memorable stay 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and by making their guests feel like a member of their big Greek Family! We for sure felt like it!
