The Apartment Network (TAN) is putting sustainability at the forefront of its booking experience. Following a successful year of offsetting its own business travel emissions, TAN is now offering customers the option to neutralise the carbon footprint of their extended-stay accommodations.
This initiative reflects TAN’s commitment to minimising its environmental impact and empowering their clients to do the same. “Reducing our carbon footprint requires collective action,” explains Marcos Isaac, CEO of The Apartment Network. “By offsetting our own travel and offering this option to our clients, we’re creating a ripple effect of environmental responsibility.”
While acknowledging that offsetting alone isn’t the ultimate solution, Isaac emphasises it as a valuable tool for investing in the future. TAN directs offset funds towards renewable energy projects, paving the way for a more sustainable travel industry.
Making a conscious choice is easy within the booking process. TAN calculates the carbon emissions associated with each stay using the DEFRA methodology, clearly presenting the information to guests. This empowers them to choose whether to contribute to offsetting the environmental impact of their stay.
Following the booking, TAN provides a certificate documenting the offset amount, promoting transparency and facilitating sustainable data management. Notably, all offset projects adhere to the highest international standards, certified by bodies like the Quality Assurance Standard and the Verified Carbon Standard.
TAN’s commitment to green travel extends beyond offsets. Later in 2024, the booking platform will prominently showcase apartments with lower carbon footprints using a distinct green symbol. This empowers customers to make informed choices that align with their environmental values.
“While reducing travel frequency and extending stays remain key strategies for minimising our carbon footprint,” acknowledges Sam McMillen, TAN’s Director of Marketing & ESG, “there will always be a residual impact. Purposeful travel is about understanding this and making conscious choices to maximise the value and minimise the environmental cost of each trip.”
By providing its clients with the tools and information to make responsible choices, TAN is taking a leadership role in promoting sustainable travel practices within the extended-stay accommodation industry. This commitment to environmental responsibility positions TAN as a trusted partner for eco-conscious travellers seeking comfortable and impactful extended stays.
