Hyatt is gearing up for a significant presence boost in China, thanks to a new strategic partnership that will see over 60 hotels open under its Independent Collection and select service brands across the country within the next ten years.
This agreement involves collaboration with China’s Dragon Hotel Management Group and Hangzhou Trade and Tourism Group. The first hotel expected to debut under this partnership is a Hyatt Place property in Hangzhou.
Expressing enthusiasm about the deal, Stephen Ho, president of Greater China for Hyatt, stated, “We are thrilled to join forces with HTTG and The Dragon Group to accelerate our franchise growth in Asia Pacific. Hyatt is continuously exploring innovative ways to expand our portfolio by collaborating with partners who share our values and commitment to growing our brands in markets with immense potential like China.”
Charles Cheng, chairman of the Dragon Group, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the combined strengths each party brings to the table. “With our established local market knowledge and Hyatt’s global hospitality expertise, we’re confident in offering guests a diverse range of options and creating exceptional experiences that surpass expectations within this dynamic and competitive market,” he said.
This China deal aligns with Hyatt’s broader global expansion plans, which include increasing its footprint in Europe in the coming years.
