London Gatwick Airport has recently introduced a series of comprehensive Detailed Access Guides designed to enhance the airport experience for passengers requiring additional assistance. Developed in partnership with AccessAble, the UK’s leading provider of accessibility information, these guides offer detailed insights into over 30 areas within the airport.
From car parks to departure gates, the guides provide essential information such as flooring types, signage visibility, lighting and noise levels, step-free access, walking distances, seating availability, and accessible toilet locations. This comprehensive information aims to empower passengers to navigate the airport with confidence and ease.
The guides were meticulously created by trained surveyors from AccessAble, ensuring accuracy and reliability through on-site inspections and detailed photographs. This collaborative effort underscores London Gatwick’s commitment to providing an inclusive and accessible travel experience.
Anna-Ruth Cockerham, Accessibility Manager at London Gatwick, expressed her enthusiasm for the launch, stating, “We are delighted to introduce these new guides to support passengers who require extra assistance. These guides will help London Gatwick achieve its vision of being an airport for everyone, regardless of their needs.”
Dr. Gregory Burke, Founder and Executive Chair of AccessAble, echoed this sentiment, emphasising the importance of accessible travel information. “We are proud to partner with London Gatwick to provide these Detailed Access Guides,” he said. “This information will make a significant difference in the travel experience for hundreds of thousands of passengers who pass through the airport each year.”
The introduction of these guides represents a significant step forward in improving airport accessibility. By providing detailed and accurate information, London Gatwick is demonstrating its commitment to catering to the diverse needs of all its passengers.
